Lelik’s story

  1. Easter

    Found by a garbage bin

    A volunteer spotted him near Avala: exhausted, missing part of his left ear, severely ill.

  2. April

    Diagnosis: cancer and four pellets

    A biopsy confirmed squamous cell carcinoma of the ear; X-ray and CT found four old air-gun pellets — three in the chest, one in the jaw.

  3. June

    Successful surgery

    The tumour and left ear canal were removed. Histology of the right ear: completely clear. No metastases.

  4. July

    Skin graft

    A suture necrosis required a skin graft, followed by therapy until full remission.

  5. Next

    Therapy and a forever home

    Lelik is an affectionate, calm cat who bonds quickly with people. Once he recovers — we’ll find him a family.

  • Confirmed squamous cell carcinoma of the skin; no metastases, lymph nodes unchanged
  • Four old air-gun pellets (three in the chest, one in the jaw)
  • Tumour and left ear canal removed successfully (June)
  • Post-op histology of the right ear: completely clear
  • Due to suture necrosis — skin graft, then therapy until full remission
  • FIV positive, FeLV negative; good appetite and general condition
